This mammoth charity cycle ride is 1000 miles around Ireland to raise money for the charity Shelterbox, which provides emergency equipment for disaster areas all over the world and the Anthony Nolan Blood Cancer Charity.

What makes this ride so unique is that I will be totally unsupported and I am doing it by only taking money for absolute emergencies.

I am totally reliant on the good nature and generosity of human beings to get me to the end.

I have paid all my costs to get to the start, to get home afterwards and all my equipment, amounting to well over £1000.

All the money you give me will go to the two charities, so you can help me best by buying me a drink, feeding me, offering me a shower or even giving me a roof for the night.

I plan to write a book on my experiences following this adventure and the provisional title is “Beggar on a Bicycle”.

Hey, something else – I plan to finish the 1000 mile ride just after my 70th birthday!

If you are kind enough to consider sponsoring me in any way, the best method  is through my just giving site at
